Old Fort Strong Fund

The Old Fort Strong Fund is an initiative under Camp Grier, a 501c3 organization based in Old Fort, NC. Over 100 homes in Old Fort were either damaged or completely destroyed due to the affects of Hurricane Helene.  The fund's goal is to raise a minimum of 2 million in donations to help provide relief, rebuild homes, and support local businesses that have suffered devastation from Hurricane Helene in Old Fort.  The current main fundraising arm for the fund is the Old Fort Strong Endurance Festival which was hosted for the first time at Camp Grier and produced by our Tanawha Adventures  and Pisgah Productions teams on December 7th, 2024.  At the end of the event, participants raised $942,279 and over $1.8M has been raised to date.

The next Old Fort Strong Endurance Festival will be December 6th, 2025. Register at the link below.

We are proud to share the incredible progress made through the Old Fort Strong Fund, thanks to your generous contributions. Together, we have successfully raised approximately $2.1 million, with around $1.5 million already distributed to support more than 70 families in Old Fort who have been profoundly affected by the recent hurricane.

These funds have been directed toward critical needs, including rebuilding and repair, Mortgage Relief, Replacement Vehicles, and Administrative Costs.

Our commitment remains strong: we are here for the long haul, ensuring that the Old Fort community continues to rebuild and thrive for years to come.

These funds have directly transformed lives. One powerful example is a family whose home was completely flooded and had to be torn down. They were still carrying a $70,000 mortgage on the destroyed house, and without support, rebuilding seemed impossible. Old Fort Strong stepped in to pay off the mortgage and worked tirelessly to pull together contributions from over 20 different funding sources to finance the rebuilding effort. In total, the cost of the new home came to $215,000, with Old Fort Strong contributing directly to ensure the project's success. More than 70 volunteers also pitched in, helping with demolition, clearing the lot, and building the new home. Now in its final stages of completion, the family will be able to move back in before winter, restoring not just a house, but their sense of home and stability.

Because of this community, we've been able to walk alongside our neighbors in their recovery. Every single contribution has brought meaningful change and supported the work of helping families rebuild, regain stability, and move one step closer to healing.

Thank you for your unwavering support of Camp Grier and the Old Fort community. Together, we are proving that even in the hardest times, compassion and commitment can rebuild lives.
