Our farm is designed to educate and inspire. It’s comprised of our livestock, gardens, berries, and bees.
The Hives
Honey
Camp Grier hosts over a dozen bee hives that are surrounded by several varieties of fruit trees. We are able to harvest honey two to three times a year. Our bees produced locust, sourwood, and tulip poplar honeys this year! Campers have the opportunity to experience being a part of the harvesting during our specialty farm camp.
The Greenhouse
Produce
Our greenhouse uses state of the art hydroponic technology to produce a variety of lettuce and microgreens for area restaurants. Gardens and fruit trees throughout our property provide additional produce and pollination which enhances the bee hive production. This effort enriches the summer camp curriculum so campers have a better understanding of where food comes from.
Livestock
Pigs & Chickens
Over 100 chickens live at Camp Grier year round and provide fresh, organic eggs to the local market. Four to six pigs live at camp through the summer months. All campers experience life on the farm as part of our summer programming. Campers in the Farm Camp assist in caring for the animals through daily watering, feeding and egg collection.
