Discoverers
Rising 4th grade - Rising 6th grade
You're learning your place in the world. Who are you? What are your limits? What are you really made of? It's time to DISCOVER that YOU can do INCREDIBLE things! Use the confidence you built as an Explorer and step out of your comfort zone a little bit. Designed as a transition program between Explorers and Adventurers, the Discoverer program targets young people who are ready to begin their Journey outside of Camp Grier. Discoverers will camp one night away from their cabin on campus and go on outings off-site to explore the amazing waterfalls and beautiful summits that surround Camp Grier during the day.
Explorers
Rising 2nd grade - Rising 3rd grade
Let the Journey begin! Explorer Programs form the foundation of the Summer Journey Series. Explorers develop curiosity, calculate risk, and learn to trust themselves and others. The result is self-confidence, and a strong identity. Explorers will investigate and become comfortable in nature and learn the skills they will need to be ready for the Discoverer, Adventurer and Navigator Programs. All Explorers will stay at our beautiful 650-acre main campus and enjoy a week of worship, arts and crafts, canoeing, hiking, swimming, and games.
Adventurers
Rising 7th grade - Rising 9th grade
Use the confidence you built as an Explorer and Discoverer to step out of your comfort zone a little more. Backpack into Pisgah National Forest, paddle the Tuckaseegee or rock climb at Table Rock. We promise you'll learn some amazing things about yourself and the world as an Adventurer. Our Adventurer Programs use Camp Grier as a base camp to explore the abundant natural resources located nearby while still leaving time for traditional Camp Grier activities like hiking to the fire tower, sliding down the rock slide, or getting your groove on at the Rustic Dance. We offer one week Adventure programs as well as two week Adventure programs.
Navigators
Rising 10th grade - Rising 12th grade
You're confident in who you are, and you've pushed your limits to find out what you're made of. It's time to draw from that strong identity and navigate your world! Designed for older campers who are ready to explore new places, while developing their leadership styles. Count on finding adventure in amazing places, developing leadership skills and providing service to others and the community. The focus of our Navigator program is leadership development and our goal is to prepare young people to be the future leaders at Camp Grier! This unique Counselor In Training experience is offered in one and two week sessions.
SPECIALTY CAMPS
EQUESTRIAN
Rising 4 th grade - Rising 9th grade
The equestrian camp is designed to give you the skills you need to be a competent rider. You'll spend half your day working with your horse and the other half doing fun camp activities like swimming, canoeing, and arts and crafts. You'll not only learn techniques that will make you a better rider you'll learn what it takes to care for your horse.
MTB
Rising 4 th grade - Rising 9th grade
After a week riding mountain bikes at Camp Grier you will be a better rider! The combination of excellent instructors and challenging terrain make camp an ideal place to build your skills. We have a pump track on campus as well as our very own mountain bike trail. Camp Grier is in riding distance to the Kistuma Mountain Bike Trail and Heartbreak Ridge Trail.
Farm Camp
Rising 4th-9th Grade
Do you love animals? If so, then our farm camp may be right for you! Your mornings will be filled caring for all chickens, pigs, bees, and horses at camp. You'll also help in the garden and harvest the vegetables. Your afternoons will be spent doing traditional camp activities like swimming, canoeing, hiking, and arts and crafts. You'll sleep at our more remote cabins and prepare some meals over an open fire all as part of your farm experience.
