Counselor-in-Training Camp
(C.I.T.)

This program is provided for campers who have completed 10th and 11th grades and are interested in becoming Camp Grier counselors.  Emphasis is placed on giving practical experience and insight into the philosophy of church camping and in developing a variety of leadership skills.

The program will include learning group-building skills, mastering camping skills, safety instructions, studies in group dynamics and self-awareness, Bible study, and assisting experienced counselors with younger groups.

The first week is spent in intensive training with experienced counselors, and the second week is spent rotating through different groups and assisting the counselors.  The intent is for CIT's to observe different counseling styles and group dynamics throughout the week.

If the CIT has completed the 2-week program and exhibits advanced leadership skills, he or she may be invited to stay a third week as a volunteer counselor apprentice.

NOTE:  Campers may apply to become counselors at Camp Grier after completing high school.
